A PhD student with a passion for social enterpreneuring. Brendan's work aims to contribute towards a reframing of entrepreneurship from an economic activity with possible social change outcomes to an explicit social change activity.
Through an ethnographic, qualitative inquiry, Brendan delves into a longitudinal case study set in rural Sicily to explore the place-specific contextual implications for community engagement in social enterprise initiatives. Having lived and worked among various grass-roots innovation projects in this research setting, Brendan has first hand experience of the particularities for engaging rural communities in collective projects in a context brimming with both challenges and opportunties. Inspired by his experience in practice, Brendan seeks to contribute to limited understandings of the integral role communities play in entrepreneurial innovations and the conversation regarding the role of place and space in understanding entrepreneurial phenomena.
