Research Interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of financial economics, sustainable finance, and the pricing of nature-related risks in global capital markets. I am particularly focused on understanding how bond markets price biodiversity and ecological outcomes, and whether financial investors genuinely differentiate nature-positive assets from broader green finance instruments.

Beyond bond pricing, I have a strong interest in how ESG regulatory frameworks and disclosure mandates shape investor behaviour and drive capital allocation decisions across different markets and geographies. I am interested in the role that policy design, market transparency, and standardised disclosure play in enabling financial markets to recognise and reward nature-positive outcomes at scale.

I am also deeply interested in the application of sustainable finance principles to Europe, Asia, America and African (emerging market contexts) where the conservation stakes are high but access to international ESG capital remains limited. I believe there is significant opportunity to develop new financial instruments and frameworks that can bridge this gap and mobilise institutional capital toward some of the world's most ecologically significant landscapes.

More broadly, my research is motivated by a conviction that financial economics has a critical role to play in addressing global biodiversity loss and climate change, generating rigorous, evidence-based insights that can inform policy, reshape market incentives, and contribute new ideas to some of the most pressing challenges facing the world today.

Personal Statement

I am a Finance Professional and doctoral researcher in sustainable finance at Strathclyde Business School, where my work sits at the intersection of financial economics, biodiversity, and global capital markets. My doctoral studies are funded by the Nigerian Government through the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a scholarship that reflects both the Nigerian Government's investment in developing world-class finance professionals and my own commitment to bringing new ideas and rigorous research back to bear on problems that matter for Nigeria, Africa, and the wider world.

My professional background spans over seven years in financial Controls at leading global asset managers, including BlackRock and Morgan Stanley, where I prepared complex fund financial statements under US GAAP and IFRS, supported annual audits, and developed deep expertise in securities, derivatives, and fixed income products. This practitioner grounding in how financial markets actually function informs everything I do as a researcher, giving me an unusual ability to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world market practice.

My deeper motivation, however, extends beyond the academic contribution. As a PTDF scholar, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to contribute research that serves the common global good , generating new ideas and evidence that can help policymakers, regulators, and investors make better decisions about how capital flows toward nature. This is particularly urgent for countries like Nigeria and the world at large, where natural ecosystems are vast, biodiversity is irreplaceable, and the opportunity to attract ESG and nature finance capital remains significantly underdeveloped relative to the scale of what is at stake. I want my research to help change that , to demonstrate that nature has measurable financial value, and that the bond markets can be a powerful mechanism for protecting it.

My path , from ACA-qualified accountant to financial economist, is an unconventional one, and I believe it is precisely that combination of professional rigour, research innovation, and personal commitment to global impact that defines what I hope to contribute.
