Research Interests

My aim is to make a real impact in moving towards a more sustainable world, with the primary research focus being on extended supply chains, reverse supply chains and the wider energy sector.

More specifically, my research interests lie in: 

  • Sustainability assessment and performance improvement in extended supply chains;

  • Reverse supply chain design and optimization;

  • Digitally enabled supply chains;

  • Biobased value chains modeling and optimisation;

  • Energy-related supply chains, such as the unconventional Oil & Gas.


Personal Statement

I am a lecturer B in engineering management at the University of Strathclyde, Department of Design, Manufacture and Engineering Management. My research vision is to make a real impact and inform policy in moving towards a more sustainable society. My primary research focus is on sustainable supply chains, reverse supply chains, bio-based value chains and the wider energy sector, adopting a whole systems approach for system modeling and optimisation.

Academic / Professional qualifications

  • PhD (2007) from the National Technical University of Athens (Sector of Industrial Management and Operational Research, School of Mechanical  Engineering) on “Supply Chain Optimization Models: Application in the Case of Energy Exploitation of Multiple Biomass Sources”
  • MSc in Operations Management (2002) at UMIST, Manchester UK with scholarship. Graduation with Distinction. Thesis title: “Power in Supply Chain Relationships: A Comparative Study between the Greek and the UK Electricity Sectors”.
  • Chartered Mechanical Engineer (2002) from the Technical Chamber of Greece (No ΤΕΕ 91720).
  • MEng (2001) in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. Thesis title: “Accreditation of the Laboratory for Testing Materials of the Public Power Corporation by EN45001”
