Personal profile

Personal Statement

Received a PhD from the University of Manchester in 2019, titled “Virtual Machine Consolidation in Cloud Data Centres using a Parameter-based Placement Strategy”. I have experience in designing, developing and delivering innovative computer science curricula and assessments. In addition, I have an extensive teaching experience in programming languages, mobile and web development, computer networks, databases, big data analytics, distributed systems and cloud computing. My research expertise is in the autonomic provisioning and management of cloud and edge infrastructures. Besides, the scalability of containerized applications (such as big data platforms) in the cloud using reactive and proactive approaches. On the other hand, I am involved in citizenship roles, such as first-year head and personal development advisor.

Research Interests

I have participated in the research and development of EU-funded projects, such as COLA, during my postdoctoral research experience. MiCADO, the output of the COLA project, is open-source and a highly customisable multi-cloud orchestration and auto-scaling framework for Docker containers orchestrated by Kubernetes. Furthermore, I have joined the RABBDA project, a research collaboration between the UoW and Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), which aims to reduce access barriers to big data analytics tools. I have co-authored research articles in high-quality journals and conference proceedings. I am an active reviewer in IEEE Transactions in Cloud Computing, Journal of Grid Computing and the Journal of Cloud Computing, as well as other conferences.

Research interests include:

  • Resource management in Cloud and Edge
  • Auto-scaling and deployment of containerized applications in the Cloud
  • Scheduling algorithms in distributed systems
  • Scalable big data infrastructures
  • Machine learning for proactive resource management and provisioning
