The Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship is a vibrant research centre, with staff having built substantial portfolios of research publications and several are actively involved as editors of leading peer reviewed journals, including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, International Small Business Journal and Venture Capital: An International Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance.

There is a growing community of research students in the department (currently 15 students are registered for PhD or MRes degrees). There are regular research seminars, and the Department hosts the annual Scottish Entrepreneurship Research Seminar and Doctoral Workshop each May.
