The Scottish Graduate School of Social Science (SGSSS) is a collaboration between 16 HEIs in Scotland. The ESRC Doctoral Training Centre in Scotland sits within SGSSS and involves 10 HEIs, making it the largest ESRC training centre in the UK. The Scottish DTC offers ESRC-accredited training in 24 different training pathways, each involving collaboration across a number of Scottish universities. The ESRC has awarded 65 full studentships annually to the Scottish DTC for five years from 2011, worth c. £20 million.
