Data for: "Scheduling of Space to Ground Quantum Key Distribution"

Dataset

Description

The dataset contains a suite of optimization problems whose objective is to effectively schedule communication between a satellite and a network of ground stations located in the United Kingdom. The mathematical formulation of the problem and the computational results obtained by solving the model on the problem instances from the dataset are explained in the article: ``Scheduling of Space to Ground Quantum Key Distribution''.

The dataset includes a list of communication windows with each ground station for a given satellite configuration. Description of each communication window details: cloud cover information, the elevation angle between the satellite and a ground station, and the estimated transfer rate of quantum keys at a given time. Full details on the data structure are available in the Readme file provided.

Cloud cover information was obtained by preprocessing datasets obtained from OpenWeatherMap (https://openweathermap.org/) on Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL).
