Data for: "Presence of antibiotic resistance genes in the receiving environment of Iqaluit's wastewater treatment plant in water, sediment, and clams sampled from Frobisher Bay, Nunavut"

Dataset

Description

This study quantified AR genes and monitored pharmaceutical and personal-care products (PPCP) from effluent released from a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada (August 2019), thus creating a baseline reference for future evaluations. Using qPCR, the antibiotic resistance genes in water, sediment, and truncate softshell clam (Mya truncata) tissue samples were quantified and compared from wastewater, Frobisher Bay, and nearby freshwater. These data suggest the WWTP infrastructure did not influence the receiving environment based on measured parameters.
