Description
In this informal Women’s Making it workshop open to all, you will learn some paper folding techniques to highlight – or indeed hide – specific words on a page. This way, an ordinary letter becomes an abstract and poetic sculpture. Drawing from the Reframing the HPV narrative installation on display at the GWL, which is inspired by medical correspondence and leaflets linked to Human Papillomavirus (HPV), you will use similar material provided by workshop facilitators Lou Sarabadzic, Caroline Verdier and Syma Ahmed.Paper folding lends itself to having informal discussions while crafting so please come with any questions you may have about HPV or medical diagnosis. On the other hand, do not feel you have to share any personal history or details. This is just to create a safe, relaxed environment for both creativity and informative discussion on what can be considered a sensitive topic. We know there are not many instances when people can comfortably discuss HPV.
