Using AI to Track Systemic Racism in Historical Carceral Systems

Activity: Participating in or Organising an EventOrganiser of special symposia

Description

Together with Dr Lloyd Belton (University of Glasgow) and Dr Yashar Moshfeghi (University of Strathclyde), I’m organising the workshop ‘Using AI to Track Systemic Racism in Historical Carceral Systems’, which I believe intersects with some of your research interests. This one-day event will take place on 18th June 2025, from 10:00 until 16:30, at the Royal College Building (Room RC501), University of Strathclyde. This workshop is conceived as an interdisciplinary platform to explore the use of AI tools, as well as traditional methods, to better understand racial and class discrimination and mass incarceration in historical prison systems, their legacies, and to inform policy changes to contemporary criminal justice systems across the Atlantic World.
