Description

A two day conference and an accompanying field trip, will consider what could and should be the international response to a degradation of worker protections, increasing vulnerability on migrants crossing borders in the global south and the resulting cases of slave like labour.

The event will involve migrant workers , researchers, labour activists and advocates for employment protections from Europe, Latin America and beyond. The event is being supported by the international ESRC funded, action research project between Brazil, UK and France, "So Who IS Building Sustainable Development? Transforming exploitative work across southern migration corridors, Grenoble Ecole de Management"(https://www.politicaleconomyoflabour.org/pt-br/Temas/Trabalho-no-Sul-Global ). It is dedicated towards proposing and agreeing institutional and civil society responses beyond borders to the increased exploitation of migrant labour in the global south.
