How many times a day do you rely on electricity? Every time you do you are tapping into an engineering marvel. Somewhere else, electricity is being generated, and fed to you by the electricity network. You have probably studied electricity at school; these Christmas lectures build on that to give the story of power system engineering, the modern world's supplier.
The story of how electrical power is generated and transmitted to where it is needed will be told through an hour long vibrant presentation, including experiments, by a team from the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering of the University of Strathclyde. The lecture will introduce the basic concepts of power engineering taking concepts taught in the science classroom into the real, and challenging world, of electrical power engineering.
