Description
As part of the final presentation of results from our ESRC* funded research programme we are delighted to present our findings at GEM this coming October. The three year project was focused in Brazil's Amazon region, a key destination for displaced workers within the Global South and where authoritarian governance has incentivised increased social conflict. The event will present findings from participatory research with migrant workers in key industries and also reflect on community displacement through expanding commodification of land and labour. The two papers that will be presented will be complemented by extracts of the project film made by Cristian Cancino and a short film by Thaís Borges de Farias, a documentary film maker, social anthropologist and rights activist. Food and refreshments will also be available.Period | 12 Oct 2022 |
