Activity: Talk or Presentation › Oral presentation
Description
Media and communications have never been more important in shaping our understanding of the world, helping to propel certain issues up the policy agenda while marginalising others. This session explores tools, concepts and approaches to environmental communication, and how these can be applied to pressing environmental crises such as plastic pollution and the climate emergency. It begins with reflections on the role of media and communications in global policy, drawing on UKRI-funded international fieldwork in the UK, Europe and Indonesia to show how the discipline contributes to novel interdisciplinary research. The second part explores the use of diverse quantitative and qualitative tools in these contexts. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their own research in terms of approaches, impact and interdisciplinarity.
