Email Interview: A recent study in PLOS Medicine that looked at the private health sector in India unveiled that, in 2020, the proportion of non-child appropriate formulations of antibiotics' sales in Indian private health sector showed an increase. COVID-19 possibly contributed to the sales of 216.4 million excess doses of non-child appropriate antibiotic formulations and 38.0 million excess doses of non-child appropriate azithromycin formulations in India--between June and September 2020--i.e., until the first epidemic wave's peak was reached, the researchers estimated. After that, a negative change in the trend was observed.
