Description
This paper is inspired by the latter sense of confusion and plays on the inherently pharmacological nature of AI as technology (Stiegler, 2011). As Lee (2023) much research tends to ask questions either around the speculative consequences of AI (“What will happen if…”), or methodological approaches (“How can we use it?”). I, on the other hand, will use this paper to show that AI has reflected a fear among educators and students that the human elements of the educational relation – trust, authority, and care – might be eroding. I will speculate that AI is not necessarily responsible for this perceived erosion but could become the catalyst for strengthening it.
