Description
As the use of neural enhancement technology gathers pace in the medical arena, organisations such as the US military have recognised a potential for the same technology to be used as an alternate means of education and have initiated research into how this might be done (Gross, 2018), suggesting a belief that the two concepts are similar enough for one to replace the other. The aim of this paper is to investigate whether it is justified to consider neural enhancement to be a kind of education. Using a cross section of literature from education theorists and a selection of academic discourse, definitions of both education and enhancement are outlined and a comparison drawn, culminating in a speculative answer to the research question.
