Description
The north western littoral of the islands of Great Britain and Ireland have been, and continue to be, viewed as remote. In the medieval and early modern periods, however, these islands were on the main sea road between northern continental Europe and the wider world. The aim of this conference is to bring together scholars working on aspects of maritime communities of the ‘north Atlantic arc’ – Scotland, Ireland, and further afield – and to explore in greater details the activities of this region. In this conference, scholars from the disciplines of Archaeology and History will examine various political and economic dimensions of the North Atlantic Arc.Period | 23 May 2013 → 24 May 2013 |
