Making Space in Academia

Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesOrganiser of major conference

The 'Making Space in Academia' focused on creating an event which focuses on placing marginalised voices at the centre of the conference within a focused safe space. The conference involved speakers reflecting on their own experiences of classism, ableism, racism, sexism and homophobia within the academy. Space was also made to allow students who themselves are marginalised or conducting research within marginalised groups to broaden the accessibility of academic spaces to promote their own research. Speakers included international academics, social activists and current postgraduate students and researchers.
