I was an Expert Mentor and also speaker on CCS environmental impacts for the IEA Greenhouse Gas Programme (IEAGHG) Summer School held in Perth (Australia) in December 2015.
Selected students participated in this week long International Summer School with presentations and discussion led by international experts in the field of CCS. The programme covers the full chain of CCS; providing up-to-date information in each field; including technical information on capture technologies, storage site selection, capacity and modelling, wellbore integrity and transport; as well as other issues such as regulations, health and safety, and public communication. The summer school was held in Perth, Western Australia, and hosted by the Australian CCS Community (CSIRO, CO2CRC, GCCSI, UWA, Curtin). The majority of the delegates were PhD students, with 4 from industry or government, and it really was international; the 31 students came from 14 different countries (Australia, Canada, China, Czech republic, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA) and many more nationalities.
