Description
Led by Health Protection Scotland (HPS), and reporting to Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Control of AMR in Scotland (CARS) group, with other partners, the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG), and NHS Education Scotland (NES), was established in 2014 to deliver these action areas for Scotland. It is proposed that CARS Programme formally includes Environmental AMR research as a work-stream. As surveillance is a crucial first step in better understanding, hence controlling environmental AMR, the CARS programme team will facilitate pilot studies to inform the development of an environmental AMR surveillance strategy for Scotland.
