Harry will share his 25 years’ experience in DC distribution systems, and this will include a brief introduction to smart DC distribution systems followed by sharing his experiences with actual projects in the Netherlands including: DC in street lighting; DC in greenhouses; DC charging EV and electric busses (connected to the Metro traction DC in ABN Buildings); DC in football station AJAX Amsterdam Arena; and recently the €200m DC in tunnels project.
Harry Stokman is European leading expert on DC and has been active for more than 25 years as an entrepreneur and developer in the DC business. Because of his dedication, years of experience, knowledge, and development, he plays a leading role in many DC innovations. These innovations in DC and smart grids are being deployed in the Netherlands and abroad. He puts a lot of energy promoting DC in society and education. For example, he regularly gives lectures at universities on the subject of DC. Two universities have worked together with him to set up a study in Electrical Engineering. The office is always open to students seeking a practical training or graduation thesis subject. Politically, he is nationally active in a political working group on energy infrastructure.
Harry is also the chairman of the IEC workgroup AhG on LVDC for last mile, and a full member of the IEC System Committee LVDC. He is also the chairman of the NEN 1010 DC standards Workgroup (NEC 64), a member of CIGRÉ (active in international workgroup DC Distribution), and a board member of the Committee on Professional field (the Hague University of Applied Sciences).
