Generative AI is currently a topic of considerable interest, particularly with the emergence of products like OpenAI's ChatGPT. The economic potential for Generative AI is immense with scope for impact across many sectors. While the innovative nature of this technology presents opportunities, it also brings about uncertainties. In this upcoming half-day workshop we will bring together a diverse group of experts from academia and industry to discuss specific issues related to the use of generative AI in the financial services sector. This session will centre its discussions around three core questions:

Corporate Governance and Ethical Considerations: What corporate governance and business ethics aspects need to be considered when deploying generative AI in financial services?

Data Requirements, Privacy, and Security: What data prerequisites are necessary for deploying generative AI in financial services, and what are the implications for privacy and security?

Evolution of Financial Regulation: How is financial regulation expected to evolve in response to the increasing use of generative AI in financial services?

This event is part of the knowledge exchange initiatives undertaken by the Financial Regulation Innovation Lab (FRIL). FRIL, is based in Glasgow and is a globally recognized centre of excellence in financial regulation. Collaboratively led by FinTech Scotland, the University of Strathclyde, and the University of Glasgow, FRIL leverages the technological advancements and the wealth of talent, expertise, and experience within the Glasgow City Region. It fosters a unique environment that accelerates fintech innovation and adoption, facilitating collaboration between FinTech entrepreneurs, major UK and global financial and professional services firms, regulatory bodies, universities, and the Third Sector. FRIL's primary focus is on the application of technologies to drive efficiencies in financial regulation compliance.
