From Lab to Grid: Accelerating Energy Innovation Through Technology de-risking and Validation

Activity: Public Engagement and OutreachEducation Outreach

Description

Summary of the talk at the Fika Seminar
Accelerating the deployment of next-generation low-carbon technologies requires validation under real-world grid conditions — not just ideal ones. At PNDC, our Glasgow-based hardware-in-the-loop facility enables innovators to test heating, storage, and hybrid systems under realistic boundary conditions, including peak demand, grid volatility, and sector-coupled operation. By combining deep electricity network expertise with live hardware testing, we fast-track technology readiness for market entry. This session showcases how PNDC’s unique capability de-risks innovation, validates performance at scale, and supports faster commercialisation — turning breakthrough concepts into grid-ready, decarbonisation-ready solutions. Join us to explore how we’re accelerating the future of low-carbon techonologies, one validated prototype at a time.
