Description

I was approached by the editor of The Conversation, a global news, analysis and opinion website, to write an article on media treatment of bereaved relatives of the missing Malaysian airline, MH370. Written in collaboration with Jackie Newton, our article focussed on the ethics of intrusive reporting, especially in relation to broadcast media where those at the centre of the story seem to have little control over how their private grief is portrayed, and where public interest can appear to blur into public voyeurism. After publication the article was mentioned in The Guardian’s live blog on breaking news of Flight MH370.
