Description
Critical Literacies in Real Time: Teacher Education & Virtual-Lived Spaces With the move to (emergency) online teaching and learning in Higher Education, renewed questions about what critical literacies might look like emerge. In this presentation, I reflect on the (re)shaping of critical literacy praxis in one Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme for secondary English teachers in Glasgow, Scotland. This involved interrogating not only the kinds of texts we consume, but also our ways of producing texts: across modes, genres, digital and lives spaces, identities, positions of power and marginalisation, and so on. I then offer some of the lessons I have learned and imagine possibilities for doing critical literacies in ITE.| Period | 12 May 2021 |
