Optical measurements is a relatively simple and effective way to identify the differences in the products since the differences in the chemical and physical characteristics of pharmaceutical products manifests the differences in their optical (scattering and absorption) properties.

In this project, we have developed a methodology which analyses particle size and distribution using a novel vis-NIR spatially and angularly-resolved diffuse reflectance measurement (SAR-DRM). This method provides a calibration-free approach by incorporating light scattering theory with particle size distribution function. Particles size distribution contributes to the SAR-DRM spectra, and its effect can be distinguished by simultaneously analysing the SAR-DRM spectra from multiple source-to-detector distances. The webinar will highlight the methodology details, up-to-date results from the method and the potential for future work.
