Description

This briefing session will provide an opportunity to understand the Manufacturing the Future Theme at EPSRC. With reference to the delivery plans, outcomes frameworks and manufacturing priorities. In addition, the efforts to ensure the UK has a balanced capability will be discussed and also the importance placed on community-led (‘bottom-up’) research will be covered. Finally, the session will cover RCUK recently launched action plan for improving the equality and diversity-within the research councils, peer review processes and promoting good practice through the research community. As a result of the session, participants will have an opportunity to get to know EPSRC Portfolio Managers and develop an understanding of the drivers and context in which the EPSRC make funding decisions. In particular you will learn more about: EPSRC delivery plan EPSRC Outcome Framework and manufacturing priorities Communicate balancing capability and full rationales Community-led (bottom-up) research RCUK equality and diversity Following the presentation by Katie Daniels, EPSRC Theme Lead, Manufacturing the Future and a Q&A session there will be networking opportunities and lunch.
