Activity: Participating in or Organising an Event › Organiser of special symposia
Description
As in many other countries, the accelerated decommissioning of places of worship in Scotland is of great concern. This one day symposium considers Scotland’s Catholic, and other ecclesiastical archives and built heritage, at a time of rapid transition. The focus is on the issues of memory, archives and the future of church buildings, including the integral management of this important cultural heritage. Researchers and practitioners will share their experiences, including those of documenting and archiving religious heritage, as well as the issues of interpretation, conservation and presentation of religious buildings.
