DMEM Research Seminar on Grounding for Conversational Robots in the Era of GenAI

Description

Grounding is a collaborative mechanism for establishing shared knowledge among dialogue participants. Recent progress in GenAI- based conversational agents has brought the issue into focus, as AI-agents need to ground their utterances into real-world events and be able to construct mutual understanding with their partner. In this talk I will discuss different types of grounding, and, drawing on the examples from my recent projects and ongoing work, explore challenges and future possibilities to develop responsible AI for natural and reliable interactive systems.
