Description

We use an asymptotic approach to explain the physical characteristics of the jet noise spectrum. The theory uses an appropriate distinguished scaling at low frequencies for the adjoint vector Green’s function that enters the generalized acoustic analogy equations. The solution gives qualitative agreement with the full numerical calculation of the Linearized Euler Equations and, remarkably, excellent predictive capability for the peak jet noise.
