Description
Drawing on current research this presentation explores the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) in education. It focuses on its potential to transform teaching and learning, the challenges it presents, and the competencies teachers need for its effective implementation. With advancements in mobile technologies, AR enhances student engagement, facilitates understanding of complex and abstract concepts, and fosters interactive, student-centred learning. However, barriers such as lack of teachers’ digital competencies, limited availability of AR resources, and infrastructural challenges hinder its widespread adoption. Moreover, we highlight the key skills educators require to create, utilize, and manage AR resources effectively. We discuss pedagogical considerations essential for integrating AR in alignment with curricular goals, promoting inclusivity, and addressing ethical and privacy concerns. Furthermore, we propose a roadmap for integrating AR into teacher professional development programs, emphasizing self-assessment, collaborative learning, and competency tracking as strategies to empower educators in the digital age.Period | 8 Nov 2024 → 10 Nov 2024 |
